smart,it lives.new pump, clutch cylinder and free off the handbrake, unblocked fuel lines and wahoo.underside of bonnet has marker pen record of 200tdi fitted in 2011 with a new cambelt .only 3000 miles showing since but will change it shortly to be sure cheers folks.its got an overdrive and running 750'16s so may be just right.is overdive in when the lever is back towards seats or fore to bulkhead?
-
took off filter ,only a dribble in.tried to prime it but no resistance on lever.it will start and run for about 20 secs and die but the filter never fills so new fuel lift pump ordered will post a pic later

If the lift pump has got a removable bit (sort of like a mince pie tray) it'll be worth having a peep in there to see if it's full of flakey bits from the tank,
fresh fuel will be half the battle

Check everything at least twice then I’d try and start it by gravity feeding some diesel into the filter, change the diesel filter, bleed it up then try her. The 200tdi is a fairly robust thing and rarely need any heat to start them but she’ll be a bit smoky after standing for a while. Once she’s running then I’d be tempted to empty the tank and flush the fuel lines up to the filter (as well as the return but that should be ok) and go from there

Could have Veg oil in the tank, maybe its congealed a bit, blocking up the pipes.
Thinning it with a small amount of petrol may help. I suppose you could use injector cleaner as well.

on the list now cheers.guessing diesel doesn't normally smell of popcorn/toffee

If its been stored for years, change the cam belt. If it breaks its a lot of work,

just got a109ffr with a 200tdi.been stood for some years.got it to start after removing a birds nest off the k&n type air filter and giving it a clean but won't rev without bogging and then conking out.ordered a diesel filter and oil filter will flush tanks and try again.first truck we've had with a diesel so any pointers on getting it going welcome.cheers mick
