smoke and a lack of power meant head off .valve guides worn out and seats,bores a bit worn too.lapped em in as best, decoked andback together for a wee while til things are more normal.any suggestions for where to take it for headwork and rebore and stuff

sorry its the 2a petrol not a v8 i'm on about(nice to have bolts into steel though!)black oily mess and valves not seating welll,waggledance .now we have an ignition problem tooo.at least land rovers are un surprising in their obstinance.will sort it tomorrow.

back together now and a little sprightlier but not for long i can spin the valves in their seats by holding the springs and twizzling.setting the clearances ,the screwdriver on the rocker was opening the valves without any effort. still runnning though and better than before amazing.lockdown has mae us here closer than ever. hope you are all okay.learnt how to play bring me sunshine on the uke today. and it does take care

I use a good guy in Retford for head work and hes top notch, but retford may be a bit far for you dude.

maybe chap,chucked it back on for now and its been good enough for work.valve springs so weak setting the clearances was compressing em be reet.

For quality work on old engines, Park engineering in malton, north yorkshire takes some beating, rebores, crank grinds, etc, they know what they talk about and can do the work to a standard rarely found in this day
