Got some more done today, everything disconnected from the current petrol engine and front panel removed, along with the temp sender and thermostat housing.

Also had to undo the bracket for the clutch hydraulics from behind the fuel pump.

But on the 2.5 n/a the bracket for the breather system bolts on in this area, so I'v taken the bolts out and replaced it it a couple of lengths of threaded rods (I will cut it down) and lock nuts to keep everything in place and still allow for the clutch bracket to be fitted too.

Been sorting the electrics out ready for the new engine today, fitted a relay for the glow plugs and wired it up using the old push start button in the chokes old hole to activate the cold start light as well, also added an low fuel warning light above the six way light switch, and finally added the new starter button which should help it "fly"  wdesmle

New exhaust loosely in place, but need to make a mount on the chassis for the silencer though as the old system use to run straight from the joint on the down pipe and then turn to bolt on the silencer to exit on the drivers side of the chassis.

After discovering how metal wasn't actually in TET's rear crossmember and already having plans for NYE I asked Hodgey if I could borrow his welder to patch up the holes once at his company's workshop (JAS Land Rovers)

Discovering where the good metal is.

There wasn't much!!!

Needed more metal then what I first though so Hodgey kindly found some left over heavy duty box section that's roughly the right size to weld in place with a couple of extra plates to help make it match the rest of the rear cross profile

And painted :-)
Its not perfect but it'll do until I can get Ralph's chassis done and then look into getting a chassis for TET too.

Driving TET home last night found out the headlights didnt want to work  FRSsml and found out the headlight wiring was pretty much past its best, luckily a while ago I had ordered new leads from Autosparks along with something else and seem like it was time to fit them.
Old wiring out the way.

Shiny and new!!!

thats better!!!

Inbetween working on Ralph today did some maintenance on TET and thought it'd be best to change the oils in the gearboxes and rear axle, so drained the transfer box, no problem, drained the main box and found TET decided he's got too much metal in there  dcpoo

Been told new ones can be fitted without taking the box out so that'll be interesting to find out at some point. To make filling the ex military box up I painted and fitted the cover I made the other week at college too  wdesmle

Been waaaaay to quite on here recently, mainly due to  officially  becoming an civvy and getting started a new job with Munkie of this parish  wdesmle but also TET took up alot of my time with the engine starting to run really rough at times  FRSsml thought it was just injectors so swapped them over with a set I got from Nuggs, then had trouble starting until Jimmy74 popped over and gave us a tow start and ended up with head gasket symptoms   FRSsml Following night me and Jimmy took the head off, no signs of damage on the gasket but putting a straight edge to the head found it warped, and to be safe did the same to the block and found the same there too  FRSsml stg a few calls to people (and using the AWFFR for daily commuting too) found a replacement 2.5 n/a from the man hero that is Joskin  whoo
Old engine coming out.

To say Joskin in a hero is too little a word for the guy, not only did he bring it down and meet me at mine on his day off from work after I got home but he already had it out and on the drive and ready to swap a few bits over and helped fit in the engine bay that very same night, what a big start of a man he his  lkebtn A few days of making sure its all running ok on the run to work Sara had a couple of water safety jobs to go to in London with her kayak, so early Saturday morning TET got us to the East End

With tomorrows event happening in the early morning at Thorpe Park we thought TET should do some sight seeing in the big Village  ;D
As close as we could get to the Millennium Dome.

Amongst the bankers at Canary Wharf.

The Tower of the Village

And a big bridge next to it!!!.

A big wheel next to that big stream.

That big busy building with a big clock on it.

And the local abby and church.

Where the Guards like to march about on Liz's birthday (and me in my old job back on a certain Sqn now and again).

Onwards to Liz's Village house.

She wasn't in though.

Found something older the TET out and about too!!!

That old sailor from Norfolk.

Not a Big Top in sight!!!

The Cenotaph.

Waiting for James.

Feeling the power!

Royal Hospital Chelsea.

Twickenham.

Kew Gardens (well the outside at least)

And after a fun and wet day on Sunday at Thorpe Park we made one more stop for dinner on the way home  wdesmle

Nice pics!

I like how the red 'no stopping' line clearly doesn't mean Land Rovers...  :)
