Well after another cracking weekend at Leafers the other week the AWFFR decided it didn't like its head gasket, cylinder head or engine block any more and threw its toys out the pram big style
As annoying as this was, the fact that I had roughly a week to find and get a new engine, remove the old one, swap over all the FFR and oil cooler fittings too before Goodwood I did have a bit of a panic attack
But after a shout out on Facebook and offers of help and parts etc a plan soon came together. The engine block came from MrG in Suffolk, Fentiger very kindly agreed to go and pick it up and supply a good known cylinder head, and help fit it along with Munkie and a couple more whilst Sara made sure we were feed and watered
The first job was to remove the remains of the old engine, which Jimmy74 very kindly came over to help me strip down the front end and remove
After that its was a case of removing everything that would need transferring onto the new engine, and giving it a clean and coat of paint. As I had a tine of military recon engine paint I thought it would be an ideal time to paint it more in keeping if time permitted so made a start of it on the sump and rocker cover etc.
Cleaning out the sump and it didn't look good
The following day the Ninja squad arrived and sprung into action, checking over the new parts, cleaning and attaching parts ready for refitting into the engine bay, and even sending Sara out to a military tank dealer for £40 worths of FFR spark plugs too!
And by the end of the day we had it back in place
Yesterday I got the rest of the front end back together, reconnected all the wires etc and it burst into life again
Yet again I must thank everyone who's helped with parts and getting the job done again I could never done it without any of you
