Ralph the Rolled Rover is starting to look good mate. I recommend an over seas road trip to Montours as a shake down trip.

Gearbox has been delayed due to the wrong thrust washers being sent  fp so today I set about taking the bent roof off to Fentigers to swap for an unbent one  wdesmle Started with a shuffle around on the driveway and then reconfiguring TET's roof!

Knackered roof and roof rack off

Bent roof loaded up

And back with the unbent one  wdesmle

Stuck down some underlay on the inside too to help keep the moisture down etc and will hopefully find some carpet to go on top of it soon too.

TET looks quite cool as a pickup

I love the smell of EP90 in the morning. It smells of .... Victory

Set about removing the old gearbox on Saturday, so after picking up Fentigers hoist of death on Friday we moved Ralph about, got the roof off and set the hoist up (and then Sara went off to paint Batty Wagon's interior lol) a sort while later it was out  wdesmle

Then it got wet  FRSsml

Now the original plan was the newly rebuilt box would be with me by early afternoon vai a certain Mr Maude, but due to problems beyond our control it was gone 6 and dark when he and the box arrived  Hmor so we set about putting the transfer box and main box together in the gangway to give us some light and shelter. In the morning after swapping over a few more bits its was good to go  wdesmle

Fitting into place with the removable crossmember out the way!!!

And its in  wdesmle

Unfortunately with all the fun and games trying to get the new box to me he forgot to bring along the new bearing for the overdrive so will pick that up and fit the overdrive later in the week. Another job I did whilst waiting for the new box was to line the roof in carpet whilst it was off which has now been refitted onto Ralph finally now too  wdesmle

So after a delay due to certain peoples birthdays etc this weekend saw Ralph back on the road  wdesmle
Seatbox going back in after refitting the props etc

Quick test drive down the road to make sure the newly rebuilt box is ok and the gearbox cover and floor is going back in

A little while ago on Evilbay I saw an gearbox cover set the matches the bit already in Ralph, brought it, went to fit it today and its for a 6 pot  Hmor

Everything else back together and its ready for the daily commute again  wdesmle

Back in February Ralph's overdrive decided to go  5xif whilst driving along the A14, managed to get home with it disengaged along the back roadlthe las few miles though, which horrid noises coming from the overdrive though  :( Now things have calmed down at home I finally got the overdrive off so I can use Ralph again. Found a couple of issues already!
Shaft seems to of been able to turn and dig into the housing  dcpoo

And the 2 tabs on the locking washer seem to of broken off too!

Well I finally managed to make a start prepping Ralph's body for a new coat of paint today, not much though due to the weather  dcpoo
Managed at least to get the dented side rubbed down and keyed ready for primer etc, needed a flap disc on the layers of NATO green paint on the front wing though!

Nice tidy job that mate, amazing how a bit of paint transforms the look of the old wagons  5xif

Thought it may have been sold by now, certainly nothing stopping it now  vcan
