Cheers all, its not "that" nice in the metal, but its ok.
Sam, it had 90% of the original red primer on the block when I got it, then it had 2 coats of etch primer, then 2 of converted 2k acrylic.

Easiest engine I have ever put in... literally 2 minutes from lowering it down to having the first two nuts on. Got it to roughly the right height, gave it a gentle shove in the direction of the gearbox and clonk, in it went. And yes, I have fitted the clutch, yes, I have got the spigot bearing in there!!!

Good effort there - getting the engine and gearbox to mate in mine took nigh-on three profanity-laden hours.

Mind if I ask what engine paint you've used? It's a much deeper colour than the paint I got from Frost's, sold as 'Land Rover Duck Egg Blue:'

Wondering if yours is the MOD colour, and mine is the civilian version, or some such.

Both are lovely colours, I think Andrew's is more like the military shade.
All the right bits, but not necessarily in the right order.

Phil yours looks more like the older eau de nil colour which is more of a pale green

Interesting - I've never heard of that before. A brief look into it suggests it's also known as 'cockpit green,' due to its original use inside RAF aircraft.

I believe it was the original MoD blue green (Used up to the 50s if I remember right?) before they moved to the more recognisable one you see in later models. I went fr it as I wanted more of a contrast in the engine bay as mine's marine blue

Phil, I just googled the colour code for duck egg blue and came up with BSC381 101, wich actually is called sky blue. Went to my local paint place and got two cans of it mixed up in converted acrylic 2k. Is a very good match to some of the military painted bits I have here.

If it works there should be a video above. Don't know if it will work if you don't have facebook. Let me know if it doesn't and I'll stick it on Youtube. Ignore my cheesy grin at the end, it has been 8 weeks of hard work!

Blimey, that is smooth - makes me think I must have done something wrong!

Thanks for the info on the paint - using the colour code was probably the more sensible way to go, thinking about it.
