I think ill make an awning for mine but make it so it goes from the roof rack so i dont have to drill the bodywork. Should be easier to make up support brackets too clamped to roof rack supports

You could make one that comes off the hood sticks

bet you could mount frame inside on the hood sticks so that it comes through the top corners of the rear flap, I know my canvas roof never sealed fully on the rear flap so poles will work

Oooerrr - my ears were burning (or I just happened to come across this thread   whstle).

Yes, I made a batch of Carawagon style pull-out awning frames, as Simon shows in his first pictures, and yes, Brad (RomanyRose) did want more than his fair share   wdesmle

Also, as said, I fell out with the galvanisers after their fourth attempt, so was left with a few frames which aren't perfect, though I now have some very expensive Zinga (which is apparently as good as hot dip) to touch them up - fnaaarrr fnaaarrr!

So, if anyone is wanting a frame or two, I might be able to help.

The frames are self supporting, needing no vertical poles, and are perfect for throwing a tarp over in various configurations, just on the top, or top and one side, or right over to make a tunnel.

LATP regulars will have seen our setup where we usually have two (or 4) Carawagons back to back with a tarp covering the whole area - great for communal camping.

There's a picture here from a camp we did showing an original Carawagon awning on the frame (blue) and 4 Carawagons behind with frames out and large tarp.

And here showing just a top tarp:

Cheers,
Robin.

How much are you after for the frames?

The whole kit, frame, internal supports etc. comes to £135.

The only problem is I haven't found a courier willing to take 2.25m length so it's collection only, or relay, or pick up from a show or event I might be going to   rbchn

Cheers,
Robin.

I might be able to help with canvas but my stuff is quite heavy and would require leggs to support it.
All the right bits, but not necessarily in the right order.

Gossamer how heavy is your canvas as it may be worth using some for the top and try make the sides from some lighter weight stuff.

Samc88 where in the country are you as I'm sure there are members relays that may help

Let me know if you decide you want a set - I'm already bringing a SWB set for someone to t'Pit anyway.
