My 109" CliVE
« on: November 22, 2013, 08:45:01 pm »

How he looked having bought him from Ebay unseen in 2009

How he looks now after a Galv chassis bulkhead and front panel rebuild in 2011/2012 with lots of help from friends far and wide!

My wife and I went on honeymoon in CliVE late last year and had a wonderful time touring the east coast of Scotland.

With the recent purchase of a Sankey (So we don’t need to use the inside of the landrover to move stuff) It was decided that we could go the full hog and fit out the back so we can use it as a camper more often.
Luckily I had a couple of sheets of ply in stock before this whole 28days later stuff kicked off.
I’ve also taken the opportunity to fit my propex and second 180ah battery.

We went from this;

To this

And then fitting it all in the back

We had a memory foam mattress in the cellar so that became the cushions (I’ve still got to cover these when I work the process for making box cushions.

We’ve ended up with a 6ft by 4ft bed that is super comfy and the whole thing comes out with six screws.
I’ve still got a few things to finish up over the next week or so.

I’m highly likely to be seconded from my role in the NHS Into front line work this week to enable some of our hard working nurses to move to the new Nightingale Hospital in Harrogate so progress may slow down a little.

Looking good old bean. Nice idea. Unfortunately I’m just a smidge to long to lay down properly in mine.

Pete' I'll help you with box cushions next time you visit.

I’ve been cracking on with the camper interior in CliVE. We camped out in the garden in the back over the Easter weekend as part of our scout groups attempt to raise A little money for the NHS charities.

The height of the sideboard was determined by the height of the 4.5kg butane bottle for the propex and hob that will be fitted to the rear tailgate. I decided to make use of the handle as a shelf support as a bit of an in joke with the wife about the back being light and airy but needing four candles to brighten the place up.

I’ve managed to get my electric hookup fitted up out of the way with a cubby hole to keep the lead in. I fitted a female socket on the landrover so my cable has 2 male ends and is less likely to go for a walk while camping.

I’ve got the material cut for the doors and we have gone for a table that hinges up at the far end. I’m waiting on hinges and door locks.

I’ve been using a jig saw for all of this as that’s all I have so it’s been a case of following drawn on lines and taking things slow.

Hope you all had a quiet Easter.

You're a clever lad , aren't you?

You did very well to source one of the shovel - shaft shelf props. They are rare.

I had thought of that not long after posting and have swapped out the hookup point for a proper one and redone the lead. I’ve left the socket on the back so I can outlet to a tent while away. Cheers for the heads up.

Small update from this weekends work as I spent most of today rebuilding my wolf door tops.

I’ve knocked up a place to store our glasses and cups to stop them rattling about while we are driving.

Worked out really well tbh.

I like that dude but think you may need a wee bungie to keep the glasses there on the bumpy bits.

The image hosting site I use appears to have fallen over however the build has continued outside of a very busy time at work.

I’ve insulated the roof with double foil single bubble insulation and high heat contact adhesive. (I highly recommend this to anyone who is struggling with temperatures hot or cold in their hardtops)

I’ve fitted a fold up table using some nifty hinges that lock.

I had some of the insulation left over so have made up blinds for all the windows using canvas, the foil and some cheap window suckers.

And finally we used some of the bunting from our wedding to cheer the place up a little.
