Been having a bit of experimentation this weekend

Yes the supports are a bit prehistoric in nature but theyre only there for me to get the height to make proper ones

Also fitted my handbrake gaiter properly (its a leather one), already these gaiters have paid for themselves as they last more than a month without splitting and fixed my radio where the crimps had come apart so now have 2 speakers again  ;D

Had a couple of issues last week too, my speedo started behaving erratically coming home along the A55, it was slowing down as i sped up and sped up as i slowed down and when i dipped the clutch the needle shot up. This was traced to a loose output flange nut which had sheared its split pin. This was fixed and problem solved, also solved my issue with struggling to get in reverse and theres no clunk anymore

Also when it got very hot after her run, the oil pressure light started to flicker on idle, this was remedied with filling with more oil as it was below the normal mark. Pressure wasnt too low either, checked on the gauge and was reading fine

Sam. Ive just bought a set of the leather gators. Did you just stick them straight on or did you strengthen them beforehand?

I stuck them straight on with no issues, they seem pliable enough. Only thing i did to them though was to put holes in the handbrake one so it gets held properly with the retaining plate. I didnt use the main gear lever one in the end although may do later on

Cool. Was thinking of using the remains of the rubber ones to shore up where the plates attach and at the top around the hi-low range lever. I cant for the life of me figure out how the main gearlever one attaches. Might just stick it over the rubber one and see how it looks.

Pleased to report the first long journey in her since the accident went like a dream. Cruising 60-65 on the dual carriageway, returned 24mpg going down and 27 on the way back up. When I was cruising along at a slower speed of 55 -60 on the way back, the fuel gauge needle hardly moved for about 30 miles so either theres a bit of **** causing it to stick or it actually isnt using much fuel, anyway who runs these things for economy?

Had a brilliant weekend at shell island anyway and pleased with how she ran

Its still undergoing work, got new parabolics on order from gb springs which will go on before LATP.

You know how it is though, once ive had it running fine the arsedness level to do work to it drops to a minimum.

Its getting time for a fuel filter change and air cleaner cleaning though.

Also thanks to Robin (RMS) Ive sourced an 88" carawagon awning which im hopin to fit at leafers!

Sounds like its really coming on, keep putting the pics up, as we all like to see the progress, mines a slow rebuild at the moment due to work, also, have to change the back axle, due to a nice hole appearing, but battling on slowly.

Made a start today on the offside rear spring which was the worst for sagging and making fuynny noises when going around corners, all the bushes have completely gone, the chassis bush came out no bother when we cut it and collapsed it but the new one was tight to go in. Haven't got a completed pic yet but I've got a few here to show you what I've been up to, I'll do more of a step by step one when I do the next spring.

Set up for doing the pre-load on the bushes. Just doing the one spring has resulted in sorting out my lean (was 3" down on the drivers side, just got the other 3 to do now

Now all the toolings sorted the next few will hopefully be a little quicker coming apart.

2Hammers, Whereabouts are you heading mate?

I can report that after a couple of months the parashave settled in well and there has been a vast improvement over the old ones, can even carry a decent load on the roof now AND still make it round corners without comical body roll! So hats off to GB springs!

I have decided that I am actually finally going to finish my restoration proper after a few years, starting with the arse end which my granddad smacked into a pillar years back, its started to crack the tub and the galv cappng at the corner needs replacing. Also need to sort my front wings out as they vibrate quite badly due to a couple of cracks.

As always picks to come when I eventually get round to it

Oh also, been having fun and games with my handbrake which has now been replaced (Had issues with thedrum not going over the new shoes)

Been fiddling with the brake servo tonight, the one that was on it had the pushrod come loose so it was doing funny things to the pedal (pedal was jammed solid to the topand brakes started binding), pulled brake toweroff and swapped servo for a new one and all is good again

I have also got around to finally properly fitting my £100 aeroparts winch which Im happy with, I just have to fabup some drive shaft support brackets. I have had it working by winding it with an electric drill and I can report it runs nice (if a little noisy due to still being on the origina bearings, replacing them is a job for when I can afford new ones) The number plate is a little in the way but I'll sort that when I fit the new number plates.
