Picked up with my dad a set of new (to me) steel wheels. They've got a decent set of rubber on them, should hopefully last 1-2 years. Plan is to re-paint them the correct limestone color as they're currently defender white. Then when the rubber wears down on the current set I'll swap them over.

Been a while but good to get back to work on the S3. Been a good day, I removed and inspected the transmission brake. The expander feels like it needs a good clean and a bit of grease.

Also the brake shoes look they've got plenty of material left so they'll be going straight back on after a quick cleean:

Expander unit cleaned and rebuilt. I'm not surprised the transmission brake got stuck on with the amount of crud that came out! Hopefully they'll be no issues when I refit it.

Took me ages trying to reassemble my transmission brake. Very fiddly trying to get those springs together.

Yer, it was a real pain! I spent about two hours trying to stretch the springs at all sorts of angles. I gave up in the end and pulled the output flange about 1-2 inches to get better clearance past the expander and the shoes simply dropped into place!  Celbrt Lost a bit of oil but no biggy. Need to re-torque the bolt when I go back later.

Been quite a productive weekend, picked up the engine Friday evening. Then removed the right hand wing and front panel. Disconnected the engine so it's now ready to be swapped over.

First made a trolley to cart the engine around when it arrived:

Welded up and a layer of dinitrol to protect it:

No pics of the S3 today. But a friend dropped off my new Sankey trailer :D The long term plan is to convert it into a camping trailer with a roof tent, water container, gas, leasure batteries etc that is unless my dad pinches it first...,  whstle

It needs quite a lot of work but I'm not in any hurry for it to be finished. :)
