I haven't been on here much since I sold my grotty old 88" a couple of years ago, but I have since replaced it with a project which some of you might like!
I spoke to some of you at t'pit this year, hopefully it'll be welcome as a leafer at t'pit in about 2025 when it's solid and I've found enough unobtainium to get it back in one piece.
Built in 1979 I believe, it was a builders' bus in Baghdad for a few years before coming to the UK. It was presumably used for a few years before being parked in the garden of a hoarder in the New Forest for 25 years. After a year of trying to get in touch with the owner, it appeared on ebay for sale by a dodgy scrap dealer. I got it for less than I'd have given the owner's widow for it, but I'm sure much much more than he paid...
I don't yet know why it was parked up, but the 4 plugs were removed, so the engine is well seized. The bolted joint in the roof rotted out and so the interior was full of organic matter, spider nests, the lot. Manuals are all in Swedish, lots of parts seem unique to these models, so I suspect it may end up with a few series components by the time I'm done.
Photos are here - I'll add them as I go but there won't be much happening this winter!
