1975 ex police 88"
« on: August 02, 2015, 09:36:53 pm »
I thought it was about time I made a little project thread, I've owned it since January spotted it on eBay local to me so went and had a look and as they say the rest is history, it seemed a bit rough around the edges but a good base to start with, didn't really know to much about it as it had been off the road since 1989 and had no history with it, so ended up contacting dvla for more information and eventually got a chuck of old v5s to with it turns ours it started off life at Glasgow police, I'm now quite tempted to put it back to how it first started off after finding out, I don't tend to get to much time to work on it as its kept away from where I live due to lack of space, so far I've mainly patched up the chassis just to last a few years and get it back on the road I'll be getting a new chassis for it in the future, right so that's probably enough writing for now time for photos.

So far I've replaced all of the brake and clutch system, repaired chassis and repainted it only needed one out rigger, bulkhead just needed drivers side door pillar, I've also rebuilt the axles springs and nos shocks and full rewire, probably more but can't remember at the minute next is paint then I can start the rebuild and get it motd oh I also picked up some wolf rims dirt cheap just need tyres now

Wow haven't updated this in a while, so I started painting it and putting the body back on back in September before the winter rain came

I've still got to paint the roof but that will be done once the nicer weather is here, it shouldn't be long till mot now only a few things left to finish off, I've also managed to pick up some wolf rims for £30 and today I got 5 lwb wheels with Xzl fitted, not sure wether to keep the lwb on or fit the tyres to the wolf rims

Well I decide to convert it to run on a hs6 su as it came with a Webber which just seemed to make it run badly and seeing as decent zeniths and solexs are getting hard to get hold of and I know su well I thought it was worth a shot and it cost peanuts to do as I had most the stuff to do it or sourced it for pretty much free.

looks like it was used for pushing dead motors off the road with the soft bumpers on the front of the bumper.
