Got the roll bar and some other parts back from the shot blasters the other day, so set about giving the roll bar and seat brackets a coat of black paint.

Also set about sanding down and priming the rear bulkhead too at the same time.

Today I set about finishing the bulkhead mods and made a removable upper panel.

Quick test fit to make sure I got the folds right.

Cutting and shaping the passenger side to clear the demister hose route.

Tidy up on the bench, Nuts have been welded on too as so the lower panel can be bolted up to it. (i'll admit the welds really don't look pretty as I'm having few issues with getting parts for my welder at the mo)

Followed by tidying up the front panel, and priming all the parts that I'v been working on.

And to finish off the day, a coat of "Tet special brown" on the bulkhead tunnel, footwells and rear light brackets.

Can I combine 24 volts, 9.00's and an Tdi!!!!

Painted the bulkhead panels and fitted them all together to make sure they all fit, still gotta add fittings and holes for the heater but at least they fit.
Also painted the rear bulkhead and refitted the capping after giving them a clean up.

Seatbox got the Tet special brown treatment too, and lights added to the Bedford rear light brackets as well.

The drivers fuel tank and shocks have been getting a bit of attention too.

But the big news is this turning up  wdesmle

Spent the last couple of days priming it and getting the first coat of black paint onto it ready for bolting bit onto it  wdesmle

Major milestone this past week or so. Basic things first, seam sealing the welds on the bulkhead and cleaning and painting the sill .

Then this weekend with a bit of help the axles and springs were fitted and we were rolling  wdesmle

Naturally the next thing was to mount the engine and gearbox, Now I did get everything all straight and level on the mock up I built on the front of a scrap 6 cylinder petrol chassis, but it turns out Richards will chat with you when you deliver it and talk though all your needs etc and then do their own thing  FRSsml
Chassis nice and level, clearly the gearbox isn't!!!

Massively out  FRSsml

Thankfully rather then unbolt everything and sulk etc we were able to bolt the mounts from the engine and re-drill and weld them to accept what are clearly standard 2.6 petrol engine mounts!!!

After that drama we did manage to fit the rear bulkhead and rear body before the weekend was over  wdesmle wdesmle wdesmle

Given all the dramas going on in the world right now, and ironically starting a new job with the DVSA, I'v still been able to crack on with Tet. First off was making sure the bulkhead, doors and rear bulkhead were all lined up.

This also meant I had to paint the sides of the rear body, as there is a galvanised frame that goes around the top and is then bolted through the frame onto the rear bulkhead.

Other little jobs have included swapping the old style glow plugs for uprated modern ones, and sorting out the handbrake and refitting that too.

Pedal boxes also been getting refurbed and refitted and spring out the lower steering column mount.

Sills, seatbox, change over taps and drivers tank all sorted and fitted as well.

The passenger side tank needed a bit more work, including separating the cradle from the tank itself.

Oh dear oh dear  brf

Holes repaired with solder and tank and cradle reunited.

Quick check with the hose.

Oh dear  fp1

So it turns out I still missed some pin holes  FRSsml so water out and dried out, then ordered some POR 15 tank sealer to pour in and seal it all up, followed by externally sealing up the joins between the cradle and the tank and repainting.

Bulkhead panels taken off to sort out the heater mounts etc and to allow access to route the clutch pipework as well.

Another job I needed to do was where to mount the air filter, electric (Volvo S40) PAS pump and the battery. I'm hoping to mount the battery above the passengers footwell to free up space on the other side for the air filter and PAS pump, quick test fit of the two in place.

Beginging to cobble something up and test fitting.

Ta-da!!!!

And a quick mock up of hoses to be made in the future, nice and short and not running across the engine bay.
