Sunny Jim:
I have finally got round to joining.

I was actually born in Lode Lane Solihull at the old Maternity Home down the road from the 'Rover Works' as it was always known!

I will have had my Land Rover for 40 years this October (well, some of it anyway!).

In all that time, I have only ever had the one Land Rover, despite temptations from time to time!

In the intervening years, it has had various repairs and rebuilds, with the last major one in 2006/7. It looks fairly standard but has paralytic springs, Roverdrive, front disc brakes with Series 3 pedal and servo, Rocky Mountain door tops (the unglazed type so I have done them as per original). Last year I abandoned the idea of going down the TDi route and fitted a stage 2 17H engine with SU carburettor instead. This is so much smoother than the old 2¼ petrol!

The vehicle was apparently supplied new to The Ministry of Civil Aviation at Farnborough in January 1960, but wasn't registered until February. The registration is listed as London, but appears to have been a series used for ministry type vehicles with civilian registrations. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

It had heavy duty rear springs fitted and evidence of a centre PTO with a hole cut in the seat base that had been crudely patched over.
