Hi all!
Inspired by Jim and his little wood burning stove at the last Shell Island camping experience, and coupled with him taking the
**** out of our gas stove I thought i'd ask Santa for one for myself.
I first ran it on pine cones which are free but a bit smoky... so after some youTube research I invested £3 in a bag of flammable wooden pellets sold as cat litter

Anyway here are a few photos lol
My one is made by Robens. I have heard stories that the cheap ripoff ones don't burn stuff as well but I could be wrong.
It gasifies the wood as it burns from the top down. I don't really care about this but the flame looks nice

It gave over an hours cooking time although all I did was boil two eggs and make a cup of tea, whilst watching it and terrorising the cat.
The tea tasted horrible and plasticy though, Like when you drink water out of a hot hosepipe in the middle of summer!
I may invest in a decent kettley thing.
Oh yeah, the bottom of the little frying pan I used is also now covered in sticky bitumen(is it bitumen or tar?)

Definitely more oomph than the gas hob i have which runs on those aerosols of butane which you can never quite fully use up. This is now my full time cookware item for camping

Cheers Jim! also, in your face Jim i also now have a wood stove.
