Trip to Parc lead mine North Wales..... The pictures
« on: April 24, 2016, 07:20:33 pm »
First and foremost big thanks to those that joined us on this trip....
Extra thanks to Mick for the lift  :Dancing-Chilli1group:

Apologies for the slight pfaff finding the entrance (I don't usually struggle... BUT ;-))

Anyway what a fab trip to a mine of epicness.... Crumbly in places AND fall to your death through heavily rotten floors deep in others lol.

Great fun... Bring on the next one.

Wow that looks great, although it does look a bit crusty in places.
Does the level have a lot of false woodedn floors? False floors scare me, espacially as there seem to be some sizable drops looking at the pictures  :o.
It looks like they have worked the Vein above and below the main level?

I had a quick look in Buckden Gavel Lead mine a few weeks ago up near us, just a simple  500m walk in the main level as we took the kids in for a look, nowt impresive but i think i will go back without the kids for a proper look and little chance of false floors as they worked above the main level.

Don't think this would be worth a special visit unless you are in the area it is worth it for the waterfall walk up Buckden gill, i will se if i can get som pictures up here if you are interested.

Great photos, Ian, this digital camera lark is worlds away from when I was in Parc with a film camera, oh, the impatient wait for the film to be developed, only to find the lens cap was still on, or your hand was still over the lens, etc, happy days and a great mine, thanks for the memories ( I think there is a song somewhere, i'll leave that to chippers!)

We could always visit Swaledale, if there is any interest, and yes I will come along !

After Covid, it would be nice to have a bit of a minex trip for old times sake. 8)
