Sorry to say the chair was a fatality and died at the scene.
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Had a nice run home, took the A6 up to Stockport and decided to join the M60. All was going well until the 300yds marker for my junction at Whitefield (to take the A56 through Bury and up to home) when a sudden loss of power and a misfire forced me to pull onto the hard shoulder. Engine still running and revving happily at standstill and I noticed the voltmeter showing under 11 volts... check under the bonnet to see fan belt still there and lead plugged into alternator still. I carried on home, with a few more misfires every so often and once home I stalled it manouvring it behind the house (like a tit) and there's just a click at the solenoid (as expected). Start it on the handle and the multimeter was showing about 10V on the battery.... quite how it was still giving a good enough spark I don't know! I put it on trickle charge whilst I went and had my tea n that and a couple of hours later put the battery back on and it fired up and ran a lot better, and drove it to the car wash place to get rid of the worst. It seemed a lot more responsive and lively. Not quite sure how long it hasn't been charging for! Will investigate further but it looks like the alternator is playing up for some reason (though the ignition light is still working just as it should)

Anyway thanks to those who organised it (and cooked on the saturday!) and to everyone who turned up - yet another cracking weekend!
Cheers Vinny for leading the laning (and also for the oil!) - it was great to finally take the Carawagon up on the lanes as it was built for and also thanks to Dave for testing my handbrake wdesmle Oh, and thank you Mark for bringing the winch bits!

I would loved to have joined you, alas new zinc roof on shed took priority.
It's grand when a gathering is rewarded with brilliant weather. It's quite clear from the FANTASTIC piccies that a good time was had.
Chuffed to see the results ! wdesmle Cllpcs
