well the early finish idea failed miserably due to a pooley wagon having to be limped back home to the garage
so it all ended up in the usual last minute rush of throwing everything in the back of ermintrude and hopeing i hadnt forgot anything major
ermintrude was full - infact too full (more on that later) it needed a few re-tries before it all fitted a bit better
so with it all in the flask was filled the fags rolled and several tons of sweets/drinks for the boy and off we went
according to the satnag it was 166 miles which would take about 3 and a half hours - yeah right !
start time was 17:15
first pic is hamilton services (M74) this was 9 '0' clock and me,the boy and ermintrude was well - knackered
average speed was about 40mph - not good - there was too much weight in and the temperature was too close to the red to try harder
down hills was no better as it was sitting so far down - the handling was ridiculous
phoned gene at this point and told him i was running late but was still comming

next problem came as i came off the M80 and onto the A roads
handling was getting worse and i could hardly see more than a hundred yards - it was dark and the 'scotch mist' was making it worse (mental note - buy new lights)
then 'BANG' - yep you guessed middle of nowhere, pitch black a chuffing blowout
i crawled along and pulled it into a junction and got the torch out
jack out, wheelbrace out - off we go - the boy held the torch and i set to to change the wheel - but he wouldnt keep it still - so i looked up to tell him to keep it still
thats when i saw the cloud - a clould off midges - i've never changed a wheel so fast - i bet the little buggers must have got at least a pint of blood from me before i got finished
but hey-ho we were mobile again - handling was better but not great - so we plodded on and made it (well after a slight geographical incident) and made to genes for 22:30
say hello tent up,set up and straight to bed - knackered

next pics are saturday - let the pics do the talking

the early morning ritual of 'thawing out and sobering up '

made it back home in 3 and a half hours and only broke down once (10 min fix) no handling issues - but still a slight (but a lot better) over heating issue

top marks to gene and family - put me down for next year
just exactly how much of your time did you waste reading this pointless signature ?
