Hi Mr Gadget, orkneydave here. Saw your message on the forum this morning, sounds like you are staying at Wheems. I know the son and daughter of the owner! I would recommend Bay View garage in Kirkwall 01856 879601. They are not land rover specialists but know their stuff and I have used them for repair work on my Disco 3.  Sent you a text too as you might not see this.  My mobile is 07768 356 023

Cheers

Dave

What's a land rover Series trip without a brakedown?
Late year someone's exhaust fell off and
and someone at lapt had a snapped gear stick .
Owning a land rover is hard work but driving an actually series is great and puts a smile on my face.

Drive our series 3 2.25 diesel all over Scotland is a journey to be proud of.

The view and history we have seen have made me speechless.

Thank you to Richard, lesley, Irish dave and Adam for a ones in a life time experience. Didn't think the old bus would make it.
We have had a few downs, but working as a team and not leaving eachother behind has made a great bold.

And THAT just about sums it all up for me .....
I have travelled to some pretty fantastic places WITH some truly fantastic folks ....Getting there is as important as the destination .
I'd much rather ACTUALLY try to get somewhere in my series than sit and polish it, UNLIKE most folks on some forums AND clubs .

Gutted I couldn't make it dues to work this year BUT mark my words I'll be dragging a series kicking AND probably screaming up to Orkney at some point next year ....
AND if I break down ....then what the hell at least I'll have tried  fnky

Id love to come next year in the ambulance.
I just need to plan the time away and get a budget sorted out.
If chaps could pm me roughly what it may cost in reality  i can work out if i can run to it.
I have read about your exploits and really wish i could have been there as part of a splendid team.
All the right bits, but not necessarily in the right order.
