I wish I could justify the fuel :( However cheap its going to get!  Anyone wan't to buy a big running machine or an old Yaesu Transceiver?

think I have a partial cure for storage and bed in the back of the 109 as those really useful 50 litre boxes fit nicely between the wheel boxes 4 give you a nice level rear

Making a comfy bed for two in the back of a 109 is relatively simple - the tub is 6ft long and well wide enough. A few sheets of ply and a mattress, gear stowed underneath or hung off the walls.....

A SWB is a tad more complexicated, needing to get over the top of the bulkhead, steering wheel poking up etc.

...simplest of the lot is a tarp strung from the body, bonnet or whatever. Probably a bit hard-core,  given the midges up here Apr-Oct !

Seriously interested in this so thinking of starting a stock pile of spares, any tips on suitable spares to carry other that oils, water and fan belt?
Will we be stopping at any campsites so we can shower and top up drinking water?
Would there be stops at any museums eg railway / transport?
I guess I will be asking more useless questions during the run up to the event.
Thanks Simon

Last year the gang stopped off at my place on the way North for a day, we did a bit of laning in the hills, dinner in the pub and a bit of fireside chat. I got us the keys to the village hall for showers and proper bogs.

This year I'm looking at another bit of laning with a "Rob Roy" theme...

Anyway, here's the pics thread from last year...

I'm reckoning on returning home on Saturday 26th so we have a full two weeks of playtime ...
We will have a pretty big distance to cover on the way back down so it'd be nice to be able to perhaps flip back over to the West coast for some of the leg back down ?????

How does that look to folks ????

right 2 weeks sounds ok but I do not think I will be able to get Friday the 11th off so is there a catch up point planned for Saturday night?

Loose plans thus far ....AND still in a state of flux ....so please feel free to shout up ....

Travel north Via A1/A696/A68 and thence

Looking like first nights stop is going to be in Leithope forest ..just over the border near to Jedburgh ....

Then onwards to Brig 'O' Turk for some of Genes Very special hospitality ...including some rather interesting history and beautiful scenery (As I understand it thus far Gene will again be providing the very generous hospitality of the local village hall (A small Donation the same as last year will of course be in order for the use of very nice showers and ablutions)

Thence onwards to either Oban and across to Mull and Iona (Fantastic religious abbey remains etc ) (Ferry charges involved @£60 for 4x4 and two folks)

OR up to Skye either ferry OR bridge thence to Lewis (Ferry charges involved @ £41)

And then up to Loch Ewe ....WWII gun emplacement remains and stunning beaches

And thence onwards via wherever (To be decided as yet ) to Thurso and across to Orkney ....(Now this crossing isnt cheap @ £170 return  BUT it will i suspect be fantastic ......)

Thoughts so far folks ????
