end of june is most definetley scottish midge season  rbchn

scottish midges are a rare breed of annoying blood suckers  FRSsml

the west of scotland suffers quite badly from these anywhere near water (lochs)

might be an idea to wait until later after the breeding season  whstle

you could always time it to coincide with genems do in august  blabl

http://seriouslyseries.createaforum.com/new-board-12/scottish-get-together-2014/

just an idea - we go up there a lot both camping and in hotels and the midges are a pain

i'm sure the scottish members with have better info on this - but thats what i found  blabl

If midges are a problem i have some gear we produce at a customer that goes to Nigeria for killing mosise and burn one booklet on the fire and no midges for half a mile but do not know what it does to the wild life but its produced on England

I'm going to have a look a crossing fees to one of the Isles En route... Possibly Arran or something....
How do folks feel about a night or so on a Scottish isle.... Probably extortionately expensive.... BUT if it had a  distillery to visit on it.... For a "wee dram"  ;-)
Obviously anyone towing a trailer would be getting spanked price wise.... And possibly one of the smaller Isles might be cheaper?

Sounds 'hinteresting Prof....
I headed  over to Arran years ago but only on foot..... Some of Arran really isn't worth visiting BUT some of it IS.
Smaller island would perhaps be better (as long as it's got a distillery ;-)) Islay was EPIC and had more distilleries than you could shake a stick At BUT possibly a tad North for this trip?
Mind you do get to see Jura's "Paps"  and Impressive they were too ;-)

You will have to bear in mind Prof.... Some of 'us' are not allowed on there....

I think the main 'event' will be West coast/Highlands oriented with ardnumurchan and close by  the main target for this 'sortie' .
