Short notice I know but if you are passing Alston over the weekend get in touch as we could do with a hand
We are setting up the trial in Hotchys quarry
A bit of graft and lots of trial and error, but should be a good day out
The finished course will be available as part of the ccl summer doo and at other times during the year
It's an opertunity to put your mark on something new and of course test / hone your skills
See you there
Prof........

credit to hotchy for this write up  wdesmle

We Came, We saw, We conquered- eventually.

Well were do we start, after a cuppa and a natter, I took admin on a walk around the site. We looked a some really difficult areas that would be suited to the off road people. We had a small walk around that potential route, and decided that it was beyond our talent area of expertise.

"lets go and look at the easy bit" I said... So after a short walk, we were at the start of the route I had set out last year. Now Admin did not do this last year, getting his smile worked on and wallet emptied at the Dentist.

So we walked the Corse as you do, thinking all the time of the members, and what tyre's people had etc. I had my 88 with me, and had a set of Goodyear Military tyres on. Admin in the 109 with G90 tyres.

So after a ponder, I decided to led the way, the first hill, a one that I had done many times before, lay ahead. I lined it up, avoiding the odd tree stump, awaiting to break the un trained person's thumbs. With a small blip on the throttle, I was on my way, so  thought. The rain we had over night had made the grass very slippy, and it took a couple of attempts to get over the hill. The next half hour was taken up, guiding Admin over the hill, as the plough attached to the rear(tow bar) was making the task at hand very challenging, and then again over the next- well you get the picture.

We then set about, testing which area had to be trimmed, just in case, a scratch or dint was to be avoided, and made a route that was challenging to both the 109 and 88, with some section set aside for the shorter wheel base.

The video from last year, is pretty much as it turned out, but as Admin found out, the video does not look as bad as it can be, and the cross axles can not be seen or felt. With the ground holding moisture, it even added to the mix, as in clines became precarious as you slide on your back end.

Hope fully, we have set out the route that all can find some enjoyment from, and with the basic of tyre choice. ;D and talent.

So a big thank you to Steve and Nas whom did a lot of tree work, and you will find a nice collection of timber ready for the camp fire.. :)

Good day out- Ready for the Summer doo now..
