A sudden laning outing.
« on: September 22, 2019, 09:02:35 am »
As it says, this was organised very suddenly otherwise I would have asked if anyone wanted to tag along. As it happens only 3 are going, myself Series 3 109 Station wagon , a mate called Gary Series 3 88" Pick Up and another mate in a fairly modern Jeep, maybe a Wrangler. We are meeting at Holm on Spalding Moor at 10.00 and will prob do about 6 or 7 lanes in the area but I have a feeling that Gary wants to do Rudland Rigg again. Wish us luck!!

Don't forget to post pics of the Jeep getting stuck. Shpsx

Forgot to take camera and my phone is an old steam powered one so sorry no pics, BUT AN AWFUL CONFESSION TO MAKE: Gary got stuck and I pulled him out - ok that's fine but then I got stuck and the Wrangler had to pull me out! Mitigating circumstances - Gary was too far forward and teetering in between two great big ruts and Richard in the jeep was in a good position to use his winch. Neither Gary or me have one of those. It was a good day out but I was surprised at how the lanes around the Yorkshire Wolds have deteriorated. We didn't make it as far as York Moors but we will be going again pretty soon.

There was a lot of teetering done by all three of us. A lot of the ruts looked as if tractors had been down to their hubs. we had to balance on the bits in between. Not much mud around, mostly dry.
