« on: August 06, 2019, 11:24:03 am »
There's quite a lot - but please persevere to the end!
If you have any questions, please PM me
Cheers, Paula

DIRECTIONS TO OUR NEW LOCATION
The address is … Apedale Heritage Centre, Loomer Road, Chesterton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. ST5 7LB
A note for SatNav users…
The best post code to use is ST5 7LB which is for the speedway track on the approach road to the country park.
Once you reach the speedway, continue to follow Loomer Road and follow the road to the right into the country park then follow the signs to LATP

From the North & South
Leave the M6 at Junction 16 and follow the A500 towards Stoke on Trent
At the A34 junction, leave the A500 and turn right towards Newcastle under Lyme
At the second roundabout after leaving the A500 (Mc Donald’s restaurant on the left), turn right onto the B5369 following signposts to the Apedale Valley and Loomer Road Industrial Estate. (you will shortly cross a mini roundabout at a T-junction)
After about 600 metres, at the main roundabout in Chesterton take the second exit into the Loomer Road Industrial Estate
Follow Loomer road to the end, and follow the road to the right into the country park
Then follow the signs to LATP

From the East via the A50
Follow the A50 until it meets the A500 and turn right following M6 North signs
Follow the A500 until you see the A34/Kidsgrove junction before you reach the M6
Turn left onto the A34 south towards Newcastle Under Lyme
After about 600 metres, at the second roundabout after leaving the A500 (Mc Donald’s restaurant on the left), turn right onto the B5369 following signposts to the Apedale Valley and Loomer Road Industrial Estate. (you will shortly cross a mini roundabout at a T-junction)
At the main roundabout in Chesterton, take the second exit into the Loomer Road Industrial Estate
Follow Loomer road to the end, and follow the road to the right into the country park
Then follow the signs to LATP

ARRIVAL
o   Arrival time on Friday is STRICTLY AFTER 12:00 – no-one will be allowed on site before that time except to help us with setting up.
o   There is a 6’ 6” barrier at the entrance – let us know if you won’t fit under it – someone will have to come an unlock it for you
o   The gate will be locked by the park rangers at dusk on Friday (approx 20:45). Please aim to arrive well before that as we will not have a key for the gate. Come on Saturday morning if you think you won’t be able to arrive before the gate is locked.
o   Gate is opened by the park rangers at 8:00
o   Camping is a flat £15 regardless of how many nights staying as our costs are fixed. This includes the £5 per day show entry. Payment on arrival please.
o   When you arrive please park vehicles in front of tents (not next to them) and pitch your tent close to your neighbour to maximise the limited amount of camping space
o   Non-leafer vehicles are allowed on the field to drop off stuff and then must be moved to the car park.

THE SHOW
o   The show is on Saturday and Sunday (10am to 5pm). Campers allowed to arrive on Friday after 12:00 and leave on Monday
o   During the show campers will be asked to start off with leaving vehicles parked in front of their tents as we’re not sure how much room there will be after day visitors have parked in the centre of the field.
o   Judging will be done for vehicles present on the Sunday and the trophies will be given out at around 2pm. NB This is weather dependent
o   If you have something to sell, bring it with you and advertise it on the notice board in the welcome tent (cards and drawing pins will be available)
o   Bring your unwanted Land Rover magazines so that they can find a new home
o   Have you got anything you’d like to add to the CLR goody bags? Preferably get them to Alex or Paula beforehand, or bring them along on the Friday.  They will be added to the goody bags on Friday afternoon/evening
o   LATP T-shirts are only available online https://bornwild.teemill.com/collection/leafers-at-t-pit/

FOOD - TEA & COFFEE – WATER – TOILETS - GATE
o   There will be free tea and coffee available in welcome tent – come along, get a brew and have a chat (bring a mug and a chair)
o   There will be a BBQ on Saturday evening 6pm to 8pm or when the food runs out. £1.50 per item. Bring a plate
o   There is a small café in the Heritage Centre (open 10:00 to 17:00) N.B. it’s run by just a few volunteers who are used to a fairly low number of customers.
o   There will be a burger van on site all weekend serving breakfast from 8:00 and burgers until late afternoon.
o   There is a Co-op nearby - London Rd, Chesterton, Newcastle-Under-Lyme ST5 7DY
o   There is a water tap on site – see map
o   There are some toilets in the Heritage Centre but not enough to cope with all the campers and day visitors. Therefore, there will be 6 portaloos around the campsite
o   And no, there aren’t any showers!
o   The park gate is unlocked at 8:00 by the park rangers

YOUR RUBBISH
o   You will need to take your rubbish and recycling home as there is no rubbish collection at Apedale. The address of the nearest tip is Leycett Lane, Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5 6AD
o   Please bring a plate for the BBQ and a pint pot for beer to minimise the amount of rubbish we produce.

EVENINGS
o   Every evening there will be beer and cider available at £2 per pint. Bring a pint pot.
o   On Saturday evening there will be a BBQ from 6pm to 8pm or when the food runs out. £1.50 per item. Bring a plate
o   If you can, please bring along logs for the campfire that we’ll be having on Fri, Sat and Sun evenings. However, please just bring untreated wood rather than pallets or other wood that contains nails, screws, paint etc

ACTIVITIES
o   Have a train ride on the Apedale Valley Light Railway (11:00 to 16:00). Historic steam and diesel locomotives haul trains on a 15-minute round-trip beside the Apedale Community Country Park. Website www.avlr.org.uk/
o   You can have a go at driving a train with the ‘Drive for a Fiver’ on a separate line which travels around the edge of our show field
o   Go into the Heritage Centre (open 10:00 to 17:00) to book your mine tour. The tours are hourly from 11am to the last tour at 3pm. Website www.apedale.co.uk

HELP NEEDED
o   Are you willing to help out over the weekend?  Let us know beforehand if you want to help out.  Or just come along to the welcome tent during the weekend. Just an hour or two helps greatly!
o   Before you leave on Monday, please come and help with putting everything away and clearing up.

All the profits from LATP 2019 will be going to the Apedale Valley Light Railway and towards keeping the Seriously Series forum running for another year

Yes  of course!  We don't intend to imprison you all there all weekend ;D

'Campers allowed to arrive on Friday after 12:00 and leave on Monday' just means that you can stay for Fri, Sat and Sun nights if you want i.e. you don't have to leave after the show finishes on Sun
