Fings I learnt from T'pit
« on: August 24, 2014, 11:40:35 pm »
We will be there next year  Ian  , and I have learnt  10 lessons this weekend ,
1. That I don't have to worry about Mattie upsetting folks as everyone gave him a lot of time.. and for that everyone there gets the most thanks - you were all true diamonds and understanding
2. A somewhat jaded view of the series world caused a long time ago- by other people- is wrong, out of date and I owe an apology for holding onto that belief for so long.
3. I shouldnt have doubted Bertha's determination to get us there and home
4. While Bertha is never going to win any prizes she can certainly hold her head up as quite a few people took time to look at her and ask about her and her history
5.. I am an idiot for not going before
6. If a brewery names a Ale Engine Oil don't drink it in quantities like a series does the real stuff - it hurts next day
7. sleeping in the back of a 109 with #1 son is fun for the first 45 minutes - then becomes an all out war for space, which the 9 yr old wins
8. When asking an innocent question about " does that look right?" within moments expect half the showground to be lying under under Bertha giving some great ideas
9. Next year take my own roll of "Comfy bum bog paper- finding a drastic shortage in the bog in the early hours wasn't the high point of the trip
10.... If you didn't get the chance to thank the organisers in person - write a 10 point list on Facebook and the forums so they get the message....

One thing I learned, is that you end up talking to people like theyre your best mate, and like you have known them for years.. and yet havent a clue who the hell they are!

In that case we did  at least you relieved me of a few of the queens currency in exchange for an excellent pizza that the boy scoffed - leaving his old dad to survive on liquid nourishment- luckily the beer was as excellent as the food
