A message from T'pit .....
« on: September 04, 2015, 09:44:26 pm »
Just had an Email from the NCM ....

Dear Ian

I just wanted to drop you a line to say a big thank you from us all at the National Coal Mining Museum for the very impressive donation of £1,678.79 made following the Leafers At T‘Pit event.  What a fantastic amount you all raised, beating last year by quite a margin!

As a charity, we rely on the generosity of our supporters so that we can continue to tell the stories of our coal mining communities and industry.  The Leafers At t’Pit donation will help us to keep entrance to the Museum free, conserve our collections and share our stories ever more widely.  You really are helping us to make a difference.

Gerry, our Safety Engineer, was really impressed with how clean and tidy you had left the site, something that we really do appreciate.  Please pass on our thanks to everyone concerned for this and for their donations to the Museum.  We look forward to welcoming you all again in 2016, and wish you well for the 10th anniversary event.  Hope it’s even bigger and better!

With many thanks and kind regards
Liz

Most of us there would be UK tax payers.  Could our entry fees be classed as donations so that we could gift aid and thus increasevour donation substantially.  Would it be too much to ask the organisers to investigate this with the museum.

Talking of pies, which we weren't really, a mate of mine has recently started up a burgher/pizza/bacon sandwich etc. van and asked me after I had described Leafers to him if the organisers would be interested in hiring him a site for the show. I told him that it might clash with the museum's café but am asking on his behalf anyway. Sorry if this is in wrong section; if it is just move it. Thanks.

It would most likely clash with the museums café.
The food that we do in the evening at Leafers is all part of the experience  whstle
Also any profit that is made on the evening food sales goes to the forum to help in keeping it add and swear filter free. We don't make much money at Leafers as all the day visitors and camping fee's go to the museum.

O.k. I'll tell him it's a No No. However he was prepared to be on site the whole three days and was prepared to pay a rental for said site, but as I said before, he didn't want to tread on anyone's toes. Thanks for the reply.
