Virus?
« on: November 05, 2015, 05:30:41 pm »
I hope I am mistaken but I keep getting a virus called something like service fun, my avg finds it but cannot remove it, symantec cannt see it.
It seems to start when I spend time on here, are there antivirus things built into the forum?
Ther first sign of trouble appears to be smiley characters in teh tabs at the sides and top of the screen.
The tabs on other parts of my browser get a kind of cross hatch on them.
Everything works fine until I sign in to Seriously..,
Is it just me?

Worried, Bedry.

it may be malware install malware bytes and see if that helps. Cant see it coming from forum. if you use firefox browser and install noscript you can then just run the bits of the forum that you need to use.

You'll probably have loads of different virus scanner suggestions, but I'd recommend to install Avast antivirus (free).
You can then ask the program to do a "boot time scan" - this scans when you first turn the computer on, and is when the virus can most easily be removed.

the anti virus you already have might have a boot time scan feature as well, it might be worth opening the antivirus program and taking a look first :)

Thanks Tom.

Hippy Dave's suggestions seemed to have helped, for now.

I'm due a new laptop, I'm just rather spent out at the mo.

I may go back to Linux.
